Overview
The critical developmental years for most soccer players are from ages 9 through 12. Players that don’t develop the necessary technical skills during these ages often drop out of the sport. This is often due to the failure to advance to more competitive teams or lack of personal enjoyment due to less success on the field. Therefore, it is essential that these younger players receive the best coaching available.
To meet the training needs of these younger players, TASC provides its’ Youth Development Program (YDP) exclusively to all players on U10 through U12 Challenge teams. This training program is conducted by TASC professional coaches.
The Program
The Youth Development Program is an age specific soccer training curriculum. The fundamental skills are presented and developed over the 3-year span of the YDP. Player skill levels are monitored and assessed semi-annually over the course of the program to ensure overall development. These assessments are available to parents and players.
TASC YDP runs for 12 weeks in the fall and 12 weeks in the spring and all sessions are conducted by a TASC Professional USSF-Licensed Coach. The training regimen will focus on mastery of individual technical skills such as:
- Dribbling,
- Receiving (flighted and ground balls) and first touch,
- Short and long passing, and
- Finishing goal-scoring opportunities.
While the emphasis is on individual skill progression, the sessions are designed to promote enjoyment of the game in a positive, fun-filled environment.
The Cost
This program is provided to players on U-10 to U-12 Challenge teams at no additional cost to the youth player and all players are automatically registered. The program is unique to the TASC Soccer Club.
